Puppy Chow

Who doesn’t love themselves a good old fashioned Staffordshire dog? And who doesn’t love a cookie?  Well those two delectable things unite in this whimsical cookie jar from Anthropologie that is so blatantly up my alley that I had multiple colleagues tag me on social media when they saw it in stores.

It would be pretty at home in my kitchen, but at $128 and considering I already have two pairs of Staf dogs on the main floor of the house, I may have to restrain myself for now.

Edie Vs. Edie

J. Crew is proudly declaring “Edie Ever After”…

and while I wholeheartedly agree that the Edie purse in Italian calf hair is beyond stunning at an achievable $448,

my heart only belongs to one Edie.

Presenting Lucille II and Little Edie!

I am so excited to say that the boy and I are the proud new owners of two adorable kittens! We brought home Lucille II and Edith Bouvier Beale aka Little Edie this weekend and we are totally in love!

image

We’re both animal lovers, but with our busy schedules we knew dogs were out of the question, so we turned to the best cat breed there is: the sphynx! (like the amazing Ms. Miu)

image

Although they look odd, they have amazing gregarious personalities and are pretty much dogs in cat bodies. We chose to get a pair so that they won’t be lonely when we’re out and they have already adjusted so well to the apartment.

In honour of Lucille II and Little Edie’s arrival, I have compiled a list of famous sphynx owners who are also mad for their kitties:

Supermodel Behati Prinsloo has Gollum:

Tattoo maven Kat Von D has Ludwig:

Michael Kors has Viola:

GaGa popped a sphynx kitten into her Bad Romance video:

And we all know the one and only Mr. Biggelsworth!

Sensational Safari Moments Inspired By The World Cup

image

With the global gaze on South Africa right now, I cannot help but think back to the trip of a lifetime my family and I took to Cape Town and Kruger Park last year. It was such an amazing experience, and despite the luxurious accommodations, gracious staff, unbelievable food and amazing game viewing at Savannah Private Game Reserve -- we were reminded that we were indeed in the bush on several occasions. An employee of a nearby lodge was mauled to death by a hyena after falling asleep in front of the TV with his door open, and we were regaled with many stories about losing fingers to snake bites, multiple bouts with malaria and leopards attacking friends in nearby villages. This really gave us an enormous respect for our surroundings, and  left a lasting impression of the majesty and real life conditions of the bush on us.

Here are some of my favourite photos that I have previously never posted:

Shaking it for the Cure

We’re already into the end of Movember, so  I know I’m not exactly timely on posting these, but I wanted to share some photos from CIBC’s Run for the Cure, which I participated in for the first time this year.

Our team name was TuTu’s for TaTa’s and we had such an amazing day downtown marching with survivors and supporters alike.

After the emotionally stirring walk, we celebrated with a festive brunch with adorable pink themed-decor –- even the chandelier was wrapped in tulle!

Not content to be left out, all four of the cats decided to get in on the tutu action in the days following.

Mis Miu went so far as to break into the closet so she could sleep in the bag that was storing them!

Leya and Miss Miu…

IMG_5657IMG_5672

and the rest of the domesticated animal menagerie over here wish you a happy labour day weekend. Whether you’re  kicking it on a patio downtown, soaking up the sun lake-side at a cottage or listening to rhythms del mundo by the pool like me, I hope you have a fabulous last tango with summer.

Scenes from Woofstock

P1070982

I totally forgot to post photos from my first visit to Woofstock last month so dog lovers please enjoy the belated snaps.

P1070954

My mother and I rounded up Leya into the trunk of my car (her maiden voyage!) and we headed down to St Lawrence market for an hour to take in all of the action.

The streets were packed with a variety of vendors who had anything and everything to do with canines. Woofstock is the largest outdoor dog fest in  North America so businesses come from all over to showcase their wares.

P1070963 P1070968

From sweaters and handmade urns for pet ashes to gourmet doggie treats and pet insurance, there was no angle left unturned.

P1070959

Of course the best part was seeing such a great variety of breeds hanging out in a friendly atmosphere.

From a beloved bully to ridiculous fluffy things to my current favourite: French Bulldogs, it was so much fun to stop and play and meet so many funny characters!

There was even a purple-coiffed poodle!

A significant sighting worth posting is the tiny tom’s truck – a festival in Toronto is not complete without tiny tom doughnuts! The cinnamon sugary pillows are bites of heavenly goodness.

P1070994

In order to balance the species under our roof, my mother and I decided to switch over from canines to felines and give Herman a bath when we got home from the festival.

He did not enjoy it but getting this picture of him as a wet plucked chicken was worth it!
