Summer Citrus Part 1: Orange

Now that we’re into our first July weekend, I thought I’d embrace our balmy summer weather with some sunny citrus design and an accompanying tangy treat.

Orange is up first with its vibrant energy and sweet punchy appeal. Here are some of my favourite orange pieces:

Now for the treat: a sweet orange blossom cocktail!

 

1 oz fresh orange juice, chilled

1 oz Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur, chilled

1 oz tablespoons mandarin-flavored vodka (such as Absolut Mandarin), chilled

Champagne or sparkling wine, chilled

1 orange peel strip

 

1. Pour orange juice,Grand Marnier and vodka into a martini glass.
2. Top with a few splashes of champagne or sparkling wine.
3. Garnish with orange peel and serve.
