Sale Call!

Originally $775, this Restoration Hardware console is now $540!

product

The steel construction has a hand-applied distressed antique brass finish that makes it look more like a long lost treasure than a catalogue find. I love the linear design and the Hollywood regency feel -- perfect for a tasteful entryway!

Pottery Barn BBQ Entertaining

Today it's gross out but thankfully weather forecasts indicate a lovely summer weekend for Toronto. The promise of sunshine combined with the fact that my kitchen is now a gutted mess, means that the BBQ is my new best friend!

image

With no kitchen it means any summer entertaining will have to be done al fresco (hopefully the weather will cooperate!) and I'd love to add some of these cute items from Pottery Barn to the mix.

I think this BBQ Condiment Set, $39.00 is just darling! The 4 coordinated canisters and white ceramic tray are a stylish way to serve the toppings for your burgers and the bonus is you can store them in the fridge when you're done!

Alternate View

I like to serve at least one pre-made cocktail or mocktail to guests and these retro-inspired Acrylic/Glass Drink Dispensers, $59-79 are the perfect vessel to serve them in. Add decorative garnish that will show through the clear exterior and prop them on the edge of the bar for an easy yet festive pour.

Portable BBQ Grill

These Portable BBQ Grill, $39.00 are a cute option for balcony dwellers or picnics up north. The lightweight stainless steel charcoal grill has convenient handles and feet that fold away for easy storage.

Rustica Pitcher Blue

These vibrantly-coloured glass Rustica Pitchers, $32.00 are blown by hand, creating slight variations in each piece. I already own the red one - it's so ult!

This Partyware Bucket & Stand, $45.00- $59.00 is waiting to be filled with coronas for your next patio party. I love it in the vibrant red but it also comes in cool summer white.

Sex and the City Official Sourcing Revealed

Thanks to interviews with set decorator Lydia Marks in the Chicago Tribune and production designer Jeremy Conway at Casa Sugar, sources for Carrie's redecorated eclectic pad are now public knowledge! (thanks jordana gold for the heads up!)

'Sex' and the settee

Thankfully, the funky yet fabulous look can be recreated with pieces and materials accessible to everyday peeps, and not just to members of the trade -- yay!

image

It may be too intense for some, but the bright blue paint shade is perfectly suiting to Carrie's fashionably loud persona.

The ocean blue hue used in the film is a custom mix by Conway, but it's very close to Benjamin Moore's Electric Blue

(a gallon is $54.99 at aura paint)

image

The unique patchwork piece of art in Carrie's redecorated entry is a Paul Smith needlepoint hanging from the Rug Company. I didn't realize it spelled out LOVE! (Thanks Kay for pointing that out)

image

The graphic purple and white damask rug is also from the Rug Company. The Tibetan wool design is Overleaf by Marni and costs $80 per square foot.image

The upholstery fabric on the twin settees is "Amanda Lee" from the Silk Trading Co  (The linen fabric is listed at $110 a yard)

For close matches to other elements of the design scheme, check out my previous post and Casa Sugar's 'get the look'

Leave the Tea to Me

I am such a tea person. Coffee has its place and time, but more often than not, you'll find me sipping a cup of earl grey instead of downing a cup of java.

image

That's part of the reason why this little spread on tea pots in May's Martha Stewart Living made me swoon -- so presh!

Marc You Are A Diva and I Love You

I love Marc Jacobs. He not only designs fabulous clothes, but he also has equally fabulous taste in dogs.

image

That's him with Alfred and Daisy (via Celebrity Dog Watcher) and to the right is a 1989 version of me with my own beloved Tulip. Besides our mutual love of the insane yet loving breed, it's super odd that we also picked the same name for one of our bullies -- after Tulip passed we got a Daisy too!!

As I currently reminisce about my departed dog, it's only fitting that I  simultaneously drool over the majority of the latest Marc by Marc Jacobs collection.

These dresses totally match my spunky spirit and love for retro silhouettes. I need me a trip south of the border where they're slightly more affordable than up here at Holt's. Good thing a mother-daughter trip to NYC may be in the works this July... Bleecker street here I come!
