Beauty is My Business: Jaqua Buttercream Frosting Sinfully Rich Body Butter

I am a beauty product junky.

At the tender age of 12, I developed a skin care regimen fit for a 50 year old -- minus the anti-aging products of course!

 

My routine consisted of moisturizers, exfoliators, foot sloughers and more, all with the constant goal of maintaining a glowing complexion that was soft as a baby's bottom.

I slathered on lubriderm lotion in attempt to make my skin incredibly smooth, but often found the drugstore brands didn't cut it as much.

 

From there I decided to go a step up to the boutique and beauty supply route, forcing the owner at my favourite beauty specialty store Delineation to say I'd need a rich husband (when I was only 14! oy)

 

Now I'm proud to say I have a nice mix of high-end and drugstore-quality products in my beauty arsenal, and one product I've been dishing out a few dollars more for is my favourite body moisturizer that I've relied on  for almost 3 years: Jacqua's Buttercream Frosting Sinfully Rich Body Butter.

 

This thick creamy butter is a beauty staple for me because it smells so delicious and leaves my skin feeling ridiculously soft. I've had people who touch my arm actually comment on how silky my skin feels and I always let them know this body butter is why.

 

The scent is not too overpowering and it has impressive  staying power so I can still smell the hint of vanilla at the end of the night or the next morning. Its whipped texture is thick and sumptuous and it even has a warning on the label that even though it smells good enough to eat, it's not edible! I love the scent so much that picked up the pink buttercream frosting candle too!

 

A little bit goes a long way, so even though the body butter is  pricier than your drugstore body cream (average price i've seen is about $25), it lasts me at least 3 months.

Boston Terrier Obsession

I may have three dogs right now, one of which I adore to death (a Great Dane), two of which I don't really care for because they're evil  (dachshunds), but neither can distract me from the fact that I am obsessed with Boston Terriers.

 

Bostons are so cute with their graphic black and white markings and their funny snouts. They are a perfect size - not too big, not too small- and I feel like we'd make a lovely pair going for a walk in my mackage leather jacket and Michael Kors flat boots.

           

Besides the superficial aesthetic image, I think Bostons have a world of personality that I'd love to inject into my future  home. They're so upbeat and comical and I can totally see us chilling on a couch and snuggling.

                   

This is Milo. I got to hug and squeeze him at a Boston Terrier of Toronto Meet Up this past summer. It was so fun but Leya the Great Dane was a little jealous of all the attention I was giving him, haha

Bordering on gluttony, food is a big part of my life.


I revel in the natural colours, smells and textures of food. From taking in the vibrant hues in the produce aisle to swooning over pastel coloured cupcakes, I personally think food is an especially visual feast.

No wonder then I find myself spending time plotting out my future kitchen and the one theme I constantly return to is WHITE.

A kitchen is where you prepare food and display your edible creations, so I want this important realm in my home to be a blank canvas for the bounty on my table and kitchen counter.

White marble counters, simple subway tile, steel appliances and touches of wood make up my dream kitchen.

Superbowl Sunday

I do not understand football, nor do I care who wins the big game, but what I do know is my mom and I worked hard this weekend to prep some delicious goodies for my dad's annual superbowl fete.

SNOW DAY! SNOW DAY! SNOW DAY!

For everyone who resides in warm climates and complains about global warming, I’d like to invite them to take a trip to southern Ontario today and experience a good old-fashioned winter storm.

Working from home today is a lovely treat as the roads are horrible and you couldn’t pay me 100 bucks to get into my car and tackle the several inches of snow and slush. Yuck!

So here I am snapping picks of my newly redecorated room in some bright winter light.



I live in the attic so the shape of the roof dictates how I can arrange the furniture. Obviously the chimney and bay windows are the perfect spot for my bed.

Doesn't it look comfy???

And I love how gothic the black chandelier looks bathed in the afternoon white light.
