Dapper and Distinguished in Scottsdale

I'm usually not one for Traditional Home, but I could not resist posting photos from their September 2007 issue of Christopher Coffin's Scottsdale condo.

image

Coffin is a major antique collector who took up interior design in 2001. When he moved into his Scottsdale, Arizona condo, he transformed the drab 2,240 sq ft condo with 20 foot ceilings into a distinguished space filled with warm character.

image

Coffin has been collecting antiques for years, but rather than make his home feel like a museum, he uses a mix of formal pieces and cheaper finds to make it livable, for example: mixing a casual ticking slipcover with finials and fringe on the sofa.

image

In the living room an antelope-printed carpet adds visual interest to the brown-hued room. Orange throw pillows and an Hermes blanket add a pop of colour, while a vintage piece of Louis Vuitton luggage belonging to JKF is mounted on a stand and used as the coffee table.

The arm chair and matching ottoman with nailhead detail is quite striking and Coffin obviously has a sense of humour with his taste for throw pillows.

The dining room contains a welsh dresser filled with old Paris porcelain and an antique Versailles chandelier with monogrammed slipcovered dining chairs rounding out the French feel.

The kitchen's carerea marble countertops and backsplash look very grand with french-style cabinetry.

image

I don't really care for the antique table though (i'd much rather ditch it and keep the cheese!)

image

A variety of pattern livens up the neutral tones of the master bedroom with yet another Hermes throw gracing yet another piece of Vuitton luggage.

image

Even more vintage Louis Vuitton luggage and stacked Hermes boxes have a place of honour in the well organized closet.

Antique boxes, clocks and other tchotkes find homes on desks, coffee tables, hutches and nightables adding their vintage flair and sense of history -- all in all a masculine space with style to spare!

What a Gorgeous home. The kitchen reminds me of Katie-did's kitchen. Love it including all of his collections so artfully displayed!
